Conroy’s Assessment
30-year-old centre-half Dion Conroy, who joined Wealdstone on loan from Crawley Town, said the defeat was largely due to a slow start. "We started too slowly and switched off for the goal," he explained. He added that in the three league games played so far the team has shown they are the better side for large parts of the match and should aim for at least three consecutive draws.
Conroy also spoke about the impact of playing with ten men. "Going down to 10 men made things tougher," he conceded. He stressed the importance of improving starts, noting that everyone is on the same page and the team knows they are good but must begin games better.
The defender praised the travelling fans for their support and said the club must give them a bit more. He also reflected on his decision to join Wealdstone, citing former manager Gary Waddock as the main attraction. "I wanted to get back to enjoying football. It happens in football. To play for a manager I admire, I think he's a top man, means I'm grateful to have the opportunity to play here," he said.

Wealdstone will host Carlisle United on Friday 28 August for the first of the season’s ‘Big Weekender’ home fixtures at The Vale. The match starts at 7.45pm under the floodlights, with the clubhouse and bar open from 5pm. Ticket prices range from £5 for Under-16s to £20 for adults, with online purchases saving up to £3. Season ticket holders can enter for £15 if they hold an EPL/EFL season ticket.
