Wealdstone have completed the signing of Dan Chesters ahead of their National League return, with the 24-year-old attacking midfielder joining after a successful trial period.
What happened?
Chesters, who spent last season at League Two side Salford City, has linked up with Gary Waddock’s side after being released by the Greater Manchester club. The move comes after Chesters spent two weeks training with Wealdstone and scored their winner as a trialist in a 1-0 pre-season victory over Hemel Hempstead Town on July 12.

Waddock told the club’s website that Chesters had impressed during his trial, highlighting his intelligence, comfort on the ball and ability to create chances in the final third. “He has settled into the squad quickly and we believe he will be an exciting addition,” the manager said. Chesters’ arrival adds depth to Wealdstone’s attacking options as they prepare for their National League campaign, with the Stones aiming to build on their 15th-place finish last season.
The club’s recent form has been mixed, with their last five matches ending in two defeats, two draws and a loss (DDLLD, most recent first). Their final match of the 2025/26 season ended in a 0-0 draw at Southend on May 17, 2026.
Chesters’ journey to Wealdstone
Chesters began his senior career with West Ham United before joining Colchester United on loan in August 2022. He made 18 league and cup appearances for the U’s, including his debut as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers. After his loan spell, he joined Salford City on loan in February 2024, with the move made permanent that summer. He spent two years at Moor Lane but is now looking to make his mark in the National League with Wealdstone.
