Wealdstone earned a hard-fought point on the opening day of the National League season after a 2-2 draw with AFC Fylde at Mill Farm. Luke Norris and Olufela Olomola scored late goals to cancel out second-half leads from Adam Lewis and Jack Morris for the Coasters.
The visitors nearly took an early lead when Norris struck a half-volley within 15 seconds, forcing Zac Jones into a remarkable save. AFC Fylde grew into the game and dominated large spells of the first half, though chances fell to Chris Merrie and Danny Ormerod without converting.
All four goals arrived after the 60-minute mark. Lewis broke the deadlock with a 30-yard strike into the top corner, only for Norris to header wide before levelling four minutes later. Morris appeared to have won it for Fylde in the 84th minute after capitalising on a loose backpass, but Olomola tapped in at the back post in the 89th minute to secure a share of the spoils.
Wealdstone’s starting XI included Dante Baptiste in goal, with McAvoy, Chesters and Wells-Morrison forming the defensive backbone. Henry and Newton operated in midfield, while Norris led the line supported by Obiero and Kadji, who was replaced by Olomola in the 75th minute. Subs Johnson and Mundle-Smith remained unused.
