Wealdstone fell to a narrow 1-0 home defeat against FC Halifax Town in the National League. Amari Morgan-Smith’s 58th-minute strike proved decisive, handing the visitors their first away win of the season.

John McGrath, the Halifax boss, said his team deserved the points. "There was a little bit of nervousness in the first couple of minutes when Tayt misplaced a pass and Tolls misplaced a pass, but from minute five onwards, I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points," McGrath said.

The result leaves Wealdstone 19th in the National League standings with eight points from eight games. They have now lost four of their opening eight league fixtures, conceding 13 goals.

McGrath praised his defenders Shaun Hobson and Will Flint for their part in a third consecutive clean sheet. He highlighted the partnership between the experienced Hobson and the younger Flint. "The experience of Hobbo was getting the best out of Flinty, and the youthful exuberance of Flinty was getting the best out of Hobbo," the manager added.

The match saw a concerning collision that forced two Wealdstone players off. John McGrath confirmed after the game that Zak took an impact to his right knee, while Conor jarred his back, causing it to go into spasm. Their condition will be assessed ahead of the next match.

Wealdstone must now regroup quickly for a trip to face 22nd-placed Tamworth on Saturday. The club's current league position and recent form are detailed in our standings section.
